the Dr. Donna Matthews Jarrell Scholarship
|
In recognition of the fearless and pioneering spirit of our founder, Dr. Donna Matthews Jarrell—who has championed Continuous Improvement in Animal Healthcare around the globe—we honor her legacy through an annual scholarship to the National AALAS Conference.
Donna has been instrumental in spreading operational excellence throughout the biomedical research community, and her commitment to inclusion has expanded the VOE-Network’s reach to include Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) as developmental partners, helping to elevate and advance people of color in the field. With this scholarship, we aim to inspire and support the next generation of animal care professionals—those who will continue to lead with purpose, integrity, and innovation. Since the scholarship’s inception in 2023, we are proud to have supported two outstanding recipients:

Congratulations to our 2025 Scholarship Recipient: Addison Bonner
We are thrilled to recognize Addison Bonner, an Animal Science student at North Carolina A&T State University, as this year’s scholarship awardee. Addison brings a deep passion for agricultural research, with a focus on large ruminant nutrition and sustainable animal agriculture. Her hands-on experience in the classroom, laboratory, and field has strengthened her commitment to developing practical, science-based solutions that support farmers and promote animal health and productivity. She is equally dedicated to community engagement—helping people from all backgrounds understand the vital role agriculture plays in our world and ensuring innovation remains accessible and inclusive. We are proud to support Addison as she continues her academic and professional journey. |
